Window World’s EasyGrip sash lock allows the sash to swing in easily. This superbly engineered pivot system means you can easily clean the sash from inside your home.
Also known as slider windows, sliding windows have sashes that can slide open or closed. Sashes on sliding windows are designed to move back and forth horizontally, unlike double hung windows, which have sashes that move up and down vertically.
To properly clean sliding windows, you’ll want to remove both window sashes. To remove your sashes for cleaning, follow these steps:
- Slide the sash towards the opposite side, leaving a gap of about 3”.
- Lift the sash as high as it will allow.
- Pull the bottom of the sash inwards towards you and remove it from the rail.
- Carefully lower the right sash to the floor so it can be cleaned.
- Slide the sash towards the opposite side, again leaving a gap of about 3”.
- Raise the sash as high as it will allow.
- Pull the bottom of the sash inwards towards you and remove it from the rail.
- Carefully lower and place the ash onto the floor where it can be cleaned.
Removing and reassembling sliding window sashes is much simpler than it may appear. To put your sliding window sashes back in place, follow the steps below:
- Push the top of the exterior-facing window sash up until it sits in the outer window track (the track closest to the exterior of the window). Continue providing upward pressure and push the bottom of the window sash into place on the lower track.
- Next, push the top of the interior-facing window sash into the upper track (on the interior side of the frame). While continuing to apply upward pressure, push the lower portion of the inner window sash into the lower track until it is securely in place
When replacing windows, you should always have a professional take measurements before making a purchase. That being said, if you’re interested in measuring sliding windows, please follow the instructions below:
- Remove your sliding window sashes from the window frame and place them carefully on the ground or in a safe place.
- Begin by measuring the width of your window frame, specifically the space between the window jambs on either side.
- Next, measure the height of the windows at the narrowest point.
- Finally, measure the window depth by taking measurements of the space between the outer and inner window stops.
